Science-Based. Experience-Driven. Purpose-Filled.
I’ve been practicing and coaching slow-motion, high-intensity strength training for over 12 years. It changed my body, it changed my mind, and in a very real way—it changed my life.
Today, I’m an Elite Certified Super Slow Strength Trainer, working with clients in the South Orange County and San Diego region of The Perfect Workout.
That means I don’t just put people through workouts—I guide them through a proven, science-backed method that builds real strength efficiently, safely, and with purpose. I help people reconnect with their bodies, overcome limitations, and experience firsthand how strength changes everything.
But I didn’t come into this work from a perfect background or polished résumé. I came into it from pain—chronic injuries, inflammation, and years of physical disconnection that took a toll on my health and self-esteem.
Like many people, I spent years chasing results in the gym through the wrong strategies: overtraining, inconsistent plans, ego-driven workouts that led to breakdowns instead of breakthroughs.
Then I found Super Slow. It was a complete reset.
This method—backed by decades of research and popularized by pioneers like Ken Hutchins and Dr. Doug McGuff—offers a way to build maximum strength in just 20 minutes, twice a week. It’s a full-body, high-intensity workout done under controlled conditions with expert instruction.
No wasted time. No distractions. No guesswork.
It’s grounded in physiology, safe for any age, and deeply effective. But more than that, it’s mindful. It asks you to be fully present. It demands that you slow down, breathe, and reconnect with your body in a way most people never do.
That’s what hooked me—and that’s why I’ve stayed.
In addition to my work as a trainer and educator, I proudly serve as the Co-Leader of the North Orange County Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation (www.westonaprice.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, research, and advocacy for proper human nutrition, traditional diets, and holistic wellness.
I share this role with my wife, Dr. Amanda Bando (www.drbando.com). Together, we are deeply passionate about building community around these topics. Through our chapter, we host local events, workshops, and guest speakers focused on ancestral nutrition, regenerative farming, food freedom, and real solutions for cultivating vibrant health in today’s world.
The Weston A. Price Foundation has been a huge part of both our healing journeys. It’s where we found answers when conventional thinking failed us—and it’s where we continue to find purpose as advocates for returning to the simple, time-tested principles that nourish the body, mind, and spirit.
This work, like Sacred Strength, is all about connection. To your body. To your community. To the truth about what makes us strong—not just in the gym, but in every facet of life.
I work with people from all walks of life—retirees, athletes, entrepreneurs, busy parents—each with their own goals, injuries, fears, and stories. Whether you're brand new to strength training or looking to go deeper in your existing routine, my goal is to meet you where you're at and help you build something that lasts.
This isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about training smarter.
It’s about unlocking strength you didn’t think was still in you—and showing up for yourself, one controlled rep at a time.
“I’ve never enjoyed resistance training but I recently started working out with Joe Bando at TPW in Laguna Niguel. His coaching method has turned my workouts into something akin to a 'zen' practice. Slow & intentional focused movements—20 minutes later, I’m thoroughly smoked! Joe is a master of the technique and passionate about it. I’m feeling the results and can’t believe I actually look forward to my workouts. That’s a 180° for me. Thanks, Joe!”

“I am on week four of My Perfect Workout! The time-under-tension philosophy is a proven winner. I strayed from it for 40 years but I am happy to be back. Joe Bando is a tremendous trainer—tough, inspiring, encouraging... and funny!”
— Tom D.
“The Perfect Workout is exactly the program I have been searching for. Traditional exercise classes, Pilates, yoga, hours at the gym, and lack of results left me disappointed. I don’t want to lose muscle as I age! The science behind the program makes perfect sense. I now look forward to my workout. Joe Bando keeps me on track with a customized routine specific to my body. Thank you, Joe!”
